About CCUPCA

The California College and University Police Chiefs Association (CCUPCA), was founded in 1982 to represent and promote the interests of safety and security in the public and private institutions of higher education throughout California.

The non-profit Association is dedicated to promoting and advancing the professional development of higher educational campus safety by acting as a focal point for the exchange of professional ideas and information, and by hosting conferences and training classes.

CCUPCA is committed to strengthening the political voice of higher educational campus safety by working with legislators on issues which affect the safety of the students, faculty, and staff of California's colleges and universities.

Mission

The mission of the California College and University Police Chiefs Association is to assist the college and university academic programs by providing a safe and secure learning and work environment for all students, faculty, and community.

To achieve our mission the following goals have been established:

  • To provide a forum through meetings, conferences, trainings, and publications for exchanging information and ideas on law enforcement, safety, and security
  • To explore new procedures and techniques that will benefit campus law enforcement, safety and security
  • To maintain a channel of communications with colleges and universities, city , county, state, and federal agencies regarding law enforcement, safety, and security
  • To promote the continues employment and training of professional campus law enforcement officers whose selection and training meet the highest standards and requirements as determined by the California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.)
  • To recommend that all campus law enforcement and security personnel be given the equipment and continued training to promote professional development
  • To sponsor and support legislation that will improve law enforcement, safety, and security at all levels of the education system
